A grievance is how we enforce our contract and hold management to the provisions in it we all fought hard for. If any part of our contract is violated or if someone is unfair disciplined, we can file a grievance in coordination with a union steward or Grievance Chair. A union steward is a colleague in your office who is democratically chosen by you and other co-workers. Their job is to be knowledgable on the contract, help colleagues file grievances \/ determine if a grievance should be filed, and share important information from your union. Your union steward can walk you through the exact process and answer questions, but one important thing to remember is your contract has a 10 business day deadline<\/span><\/strong> for filing a grievance.
